There are those indelible days that you hope to keep in memory forever...and then so often, sadly, they fade. I wrote this song after one of those October days that is warm as summer with the crispness and color that autumn adds. The stain glass day was so fragile that even when I was in it I feared it would slip away if I did not capture it right away. Have you been in one of those peak experience moments? Pictures help, music too. What do you do to keep it fresh in memory?
For me, since I was a very new songwriter at the time, about four years ago, I determined that before a day passed I would write a song to try to capture that day. I was naive enough to think I could just play some chords and sing what I was thinking and feeling and it would all work out. It took me three years to get it right. After one year, I sought out help from my musician friend, Glen Arteno. He had the idea for a different sound with the F and F# at the end of the chorus and at first I was uncertain, but now I like it. I think I reworked and rewrote and learned more on this song than any other.
I can't wait to hear our final version! Anthony, my producer, has added so much depth with his piano arrangement that I believe anyone who hears it will be transported to one of those crystal clear October memories of their own. This memory that became a song was made in the Lake Tahoe basin and along the Truckee River, places you will want to visit again and again and gorgeous in any season - but don't miss the October Summer season!
